Welcome to the font installation guide. You often see this beautiful font on pretty much every site about Evanescence. How do they do it ? Very simple: The logo ![]() You first have to uncompress the download file and copy it into a folder in Windows where the other fonts you have are stored. Uncompressing the file: The font includes 3 files. This is why it is compressed: there is only one file to download and it reduces the size. To uncompress the file evanescent.zip right-click and choose 'extract here' or 'extract files' and choose a destination folder. Once uncompressed you can see 3 new files. They are called evanescent.ttf (True Type Font), evanescent.otf and evanescent_ms.otf .Those 3 files contain the uppercase and lowercase alphabets, the numbers and every possible font size. It's a bit like a toolbox... Copying the files : To install the files simply copy and paste them into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts. Once there they will install automatically. A gray install bar will confirm the installation. This is now it! The font is installed and you can use it. Possible problems : You may have some problems installing the files - The most common issue is the 'it doesn't work' ! In this case make sure you have downloaded the .zip file without any interruption, uncompress it in the right place and move the 3 files to C:\WINDOWS\Fonts. - With earlier versions of Windows (95, 98, 2000), you may have to restart the computer once the installation is complete. - Can't find C:\WINDOWS\Fonts ? Reconfigure files and folders options to display hidden files. |
